SALC 7 - Practical Information



The 7th Conference of the Scandinavian Association for Language and Cognition (SALC 7) is hosted by the Department of Linguistics, Cognitive Science, and Semiotics at the School of Communication and Culture, Aarhus University, May 22-24, 2019.


All activities related to SALC 7 (except for the conference dinner—see below) will take place at the Aarhus University main campus in building 1441, Tåsingegade 3, 8000 Aarhus: The activities will be organized in these spaces:

  • Main entrance + foyer, building 1441: Registration desk, coffee breaks, poster session and wine reception
  • Auditorium 1: Plenary talks, SALC General Assembly
  • Auditorium 2: Parallel session 1
  • Auditorium 3: Parallel session 2
  • Room 1441:010: Parallel session 3
  • Room 1441:110: Parallel session 4
  • “Stakladen” canteen (150 m east from building 1441): Lunch




Registration desk

The registration desk will be located in the foyer of building 1441. The desk will be open on all three conference days between 8AM and 9.30AM. For registration outside of this time window, please contact one of the SALC 7 organizers. Upon registration, you will receive a badge and conference materials.


Oral presentations and posters

Oral presentations are allocated 30-minute time slots. Please make sure that your presentation does not exceed 20 minutes of duration, and that you allow 5 minutes for Q&A and 5 minutes for transfer across rooms. Please make sure to be at the room assigned to you well in advance before your presentation, so that we can avoid delays in the program. All rooms will be equipped with a Windows PC and a projector. If you choose to use the in-house PC, please bring your presentation with you on a USB-drive in either PowerPoint, PDF, or HTML format. If you rather wish to use your own computer, please make sure that the machine is equipped with either VGA or HDMI output (Mac users should bring their own adaptors).


The poster session will take place on Wednesday, 22 May, 6PM-8PM, in the foyer of building 1441. Our poster boards measure 150 cm (width) ✕ 120 cm (height). Presenters are free to choose whether to print their poster in portrait or landscape format, as long as the size does not exceed the measures of the poster boards. We will provide tape for hanging the posters on the boards. Please make sure to hang your poster up by 1.30PM on the day of the poster presentation.


Lunch, coffee, and wine reception

Lunch will be served at “Stakladen”, which is located in an adjacent building ca. 150 m east of building 1441, between 12.30PM and 1.30 PM on all the three conference days. Coffee will be served in the foyer of building 1441. See the program for coffee break times. A wine reception with snacks/finger food will be offered at the poster session on the first day of the conference in the foyer of building 1441. The reception, wine and foods are included in the conference registration fee.


Public transportation

The campus is well connected to Aarhus city center by public transport. The fastest way to get from the city center (e.g., Aarhus Central Station) to the conference site to use the Letbane (tram): the tram stop “Aarhus Universitet/Ringgaden” is located right outside building 1441. To plan your trip with public transportation, visit this website: It is also possible to reach the conference site on foot from the city center with a 30-min. Walk (uphill!). Conference dinner

The official conference dinner will take place at restaurant MALT, Ceresbyen 64-68, 8000 Aarhus C ( on Thursday, May 23 at 6.30 PM and until 11PM. The conference dinner is not included in the registration fee, but can be purchased at the time of registration for an extra fee of 50 €. The dinner will include 6 small courses and 2 glasses of wine/beer. It will be possible to purchase additional drinks. The restaurant is located 2.3 km from the conference site:
