ACCOMODATION

We recommenda that you find accomodation in the city centre or in the north of the city. Many choose to use AirBnB but at the department we usually book the following hotels:

We recommend you to download the app "CM Events" from App Store, Google Play or Windows Store to stay updated on news, program updates et. regarding the TPBC19.

 

BANKS AND CURRENCY EXCHANGE

 

Bank and exchange offices are located in the city centre close to the hotels. The currency of Denmark is the Danish krone. While some shops do accept Euros, we recommend that you exchange to the local currency. Most shops also accept major credit cards.

BUSSES

 

Midttrafik, the municipal bus company, runs the yellow buses in the city. The bus route number is indicated at the front and the back of the bus and the destination is displayed at the front and above the rear door. 

 

Tickets and prices: The bus fare costs 20 DKK for a two-zone ticket. Buy the ticket in a machine (pay with Danish coins) in the bus and choose an adult two-zone ticket. Tickets are valid two hours onward from the time of purchase during daytime.

 

Bus App: The bus company Midttrafik launched a free ticket app (in Danish only) - Search for "Midttrafik" in your app store. If you plan to go by bus to the workshop venue, we recommend that you to buy a multi trip ticket (in Danish “klippekort”) with 10 charges in the app. With the app you can also buy for instance 24-hour and 48-hour tickets.

 

Bus from city centre to venue: Take bus 2A direction 'AUH Skejby/Trige'. Get off at 'Paludan-Müllers Vej/Finlandsgade'. It is right next to the shopping centre Storcenter Nord. The bus departs several times every hour. From workshop venue to downtown Aarhus

DRINKING WATER

 

Danish tap water is among the best and most enviroment friendly water in the world and we kindly ask you to consider re-filling your water bottle with tap water before just grabbing another bottled water.

FOOD AND MEALS

 

Lunch, coffee, tea, water, fruit and cake are included on all workshop days. Meals will be available outside the auditorium (street level area). If you need anything else, you can buy food in the Nygaard Canteen or in the INCUBA Canteen (hot meals, sandwiches, etc.). You may also want to visit the shopping mall ‘Storcenter Nord’ across the street, where you can find a selection of cafes and a supermarkets. A Workshop Dinner is included and takes place on Tuesday May 28 in connection with the Rump Session. The dinner will be served outside the Peter Bøgh Andersen Auditorium in the Nygaard building (street level area)).

 POSTAL SERVICE

 

The nearest post office is a  2-minute walk from the workshop venue located in Føtex in Storcenter Nord, Finlandsgade 17, 8200 Aarhus N. Opening hours: 08.00-21.00

 

RUMP SESSION

 

There will be a rump session on Tuesday, May 28 from 5.30 pm as part of the workshop, and there will be both serious and funny talks. Participants, especially students are encouraged to talk about recent results or work in progress. There will be more details closer to the program.

  

SHOPPING

 

Shops in Aarhus are usually open from Monday to Friday, from 10.00-17.30 (Saturdays 10.00-14.00). Supermarkets and department stores are open till 19.00 on weekdays and some are closed on Sundays. Most shops accept all major credit cards.

 

TAXI

 

To book a taxi, please call (+45) 8948 4848 or ask your hotel receptionist. There is also a taxi stand right outside the main exit of the train station and conveniently located taxi stands all over the city.

 

TRAVEL

 

By Plane

Aarhus Airport (AAR): The airport situated closest to Aarhus - But small and only with few connections. Transportation time to Aarhus is approx. 45 minutes by bus 925X which departs after each arrival. 

Billund Airport (BIL): A slightly bigger airport with more connections. The transportation time to Aarhus is approx. 1,5 hours by bus 912X. The bus departs every hour. 

Copenhagen Airport (CPH): Large airport with lots of connections. You can continue to Aarhus by domestic flights or by train. Flight time to Aarhus Airport is 40 minutes but train is often easier. The direct train from Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus is about three and a half hours.

 

By Train: There are frequent trains from Copenhagen to Aarhus and also amny from Hamburg and thus the European train network. You can use the journey planner to plan your trip. Danish rail services are called DSB.

 

By Car: Set the GPS to Finlandsgade 23, 8200 Aarhus N. Please note of you drive from Copenhagen you need to pay toll (DKK 240) if crossing the bridge between Zealand and Funen. The parking spaces around the auditorium are good.

 

VENUE

 

The workshop will be at Aarhus University, Department of Computer Science, Peter Bøgh Andersen Auditorium, Finlandsgade 23, 8200 Aarhus N, Denmark. Find map and more information HERE! Please note that the outer entrance doors to the building are locked from 3:30 pm.  

 

VOLTAGE

 

Electricity in Denmark is 230V AC. Plugs are European standard with two round pins.
